    Informative session regarding some of the most recent advances in technology or services available to support individuals with vision loss, including cortical visual impairment.


    Learning Objectives:
    At the end of this session, participants will…
    1. Be able to name at least one new application useful for addressing the needs of those with cortical visual impairment.
    2. Be able to inform other professionals and individuals experiencing vision loss of at least 2 new technology advances.

    • Herbert Humphrey

      After completing his military career in 2001, which include participating in the First Gulf War, Herbert Humphrey worked as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area for 11 years. In 2012 Herbert was diagnosed as legally blind, resulting from a brain tumor. After a successful surgery to remove the tumor, he attended and successfully completed blind rehabilitation at the Addie McBryde Center for the Blind and the Blind Rehabilitation Center, VA Hospital, Biloxi, MS. He went on to work as Advocacy Coordinator for Mississippi Industries for the Blind, a position he held for 5 and a half years. Herbert is currently ADA Compliance Coordinator for the City of Jackson. Herbert is married with 5 children.

    • Stephanie Steffer

      Stephanie Steffer is the Business Director at CViConnect and one of the founding teachers for the platform. Before this role, Stephanie was Teacher Consultant serving children with visual impairments in Michigan for ten years. She earned her degree from Eastern Michigan University for Special Education for the Visually Impaired and Early Childhood Education. Additionally, Stephanie is a Perkins-Roman CVI Range Endorsed professional. Beyond her role as a TCVI, Stephanie has been the Program Coordinator for the Visually Impaired Youth Camp at Lions Bear Lake Camp for 11 years.

    • Kristina Somoza Toole

      Kristina Somoza Toole is a vital part of Low Vision, Etc., due to her technical skills and ability to provide our clients with a feeling of ease while introducing low vision technology. She is a wife and a mother of two beautiful daughters, Payton and Lakelyn. I am blessed to have Kristina as my employee and friend. Kristina goes over the top for our consumers! – Kathy Foster

    • Chip Farrington

      Chip Farrington, Assistive Technology Specialist at Emerald Coast Vision Aids, Inc., graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. Prior to joining Emerald Coast, Chip ran his own businesses including Computer Repair and Commercial Computer Drafting. Chip has a strong background in office management and administration, computer hardware and software expertise, and he has extensive customer service and sales experience.
