Melisa is a TVI as well as a mother of 2
children who have albinism. I have a passion for teaching self-advocacy and
informing others about ECC skills.
Allyson is a smart, energetic 10-year-old. She has been a gymnast
since 18 months. She is in 5th grade and loves drawing, reading and being
outside on her trampoline. Ally is a very social child with a core group of
friends at school and through gymnastics. Her determination and advocacy skills
show through the competition floor, at school and at home.
Stephanie Flynt is a native of Brandon, Mississippi. She currently works as
a Public Policy Analyst at the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN), where
she specializes in veterans, census, substance use, and voting rights policies.
Prior to her work at NDRN, Flynt worked as a Government Affairs Specialist at
the National Federation of the Blind, where she focused on Education,
Vocational Rehabilitation, Labor and Employment, Parental Rights, Social
Security, Healthcare access, and transportation policy. Flynt holds a degree in
Political Science from Mississippi State University. When she isn’t advocating
for the rights of people with disabilities, you can usually find her hiking
with her guide dog, Nala Belle, or trying out a new recipe in her kitchen.
Tenth grader Gabby Abeyta hopes that by
sharing her story, people will be inspired to step out of their comfort zones,
strive for their dreams and have amazing high school experiences. The Upward
Bound program inspired Gabby to get involved in a variety of activities and
changed some of her perspectives on the world. Her activities include band,
voice, drama club, guitar club and the rock band. Gabby is a member of the
National Honor Society and serves on the American Printing House CareerConnect
advisory committee for students.
