    Description

    The presenters will discuss all currently known methods of birth control and how to make those descriptions meaningful for females who are blind. Tangible replicas will be discussed along with how to obtain them.

    Outcomes of Presentation

    1. Members of the audience will be able to list and describe all known methods of birth control currently used in the U.S.
    2. Members of the audience will know how to obtain tangible replicas of all currently used birth control methods and devices.
    3. Members of the audience will be able to devise methods which can be used to make all currently used birth control methods and devices meaningful for females who are blind.

    • Gaylen Kapperman

      Gaylen Kapperman holds the rank of professor emeritus in the Visual Disabilities program at Northern Illinois University where he has worked since God invented dirt!

    • Stacy Kelly

      Stacy Kelly is a professor in the Northern Illinois University Visual Disabilities Program. Drs. Kapperman and Kelly are among the authors of Health Education for Students with Visual Impairments: A Guidebook for Teachers available from APH.

    • Rebecca Kelley

      Rebecca Kelley is a graduate student attending Northern Illinois University where she is majoring in special education with an emphasis in Orientation and Mobility and Vision Rehabilitation Therapy. She is scheduled to graduate in May of 2023.

    • Tina Sutton

      Tina Sutton is a graduate student attending Northern Illinois University where she is majoring in special education with an emphasis in visual impairments. She is scheduled to graduate in the summer of 2023, with dual certifications as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
