Description
The O&M
Inventory is a free, ongoing assessment tool created by Ron Later that is
reportedly in use by more than a quarter of school based O&Ms in the United
States. The tool enables an O&M to rate individual skills and compiles the
data in an easy to understand format. The 12 assessment periods allows for
tracking progress over time. The O&M Inventory also autogenerates much of
the paperwork required in special education which allows the O&M to spend
less time in the office and more time working with students/clients.
Primary Learning Objectives:
- Learn the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the O&M Inventory ongoing assessment tool (and I can at least touch on the Wheelchair O&M Inventory and Birth-6 O&M Inventory).
- Learn how to use the report writing feature to greatly lessen the paperwork burden, allowing for more time with students—it autogenerates O&M evals, progress reports, PLEPs, strengths/concerns, IEP goals.
- Learn how to use the Inventory to collect data about the entire O&M program and spot trends/needs regarding progress made by students—such as are students with no vision making the same amount of progress as students without vision?
