    Description

    This session will explain the importance of secondary transition planning for students with disabilities and it will describe the secondary transition requirements in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It will also briefly introduce individual career academic planning (ICAP) and compare the ICAP to the secondary transition plan in the Individual Education Program (IEP).

      Lori Chesnut is the Secondary Transition Program Specialist with the Oklahoma State Department of Education, Special Education Services (OSDE-SES), and former special educator. She received her master's degree in special education with an emphasis in secondary transition planning for individuals with disabilities from the University of Oklahoma. Lori is committed to OSDE-SES's mission to provide guidance and support to promote excellence in education from infancy to adulthood for children with disabilities as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA).
