    Thank you

This live web event has ended. Thank you for attending.

    Description

Project START's goal is to increase access to and acquisition of assistive technology across all ages and all disabilities in four functional areas of life. As the federally funded grant program Project START is able to loan all types of AT to Mississippians with disabilities in order to assist in decision making or while waiting on a funding source. START’s mission statement is: Empowering Mississippians with disabilities through education, awareness and access to Assistive Technology.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Participants will understand the services Project START provides.
    • Participants will know how to contact Project START for AT needs.
This session is presented by Jamie Tucker and Kristy Cook.

    Contributors

    • Jamie Tucker

Jamie Tucker serves as Director of Project START since 2018, Mississippi's AT Tech Act Program. Jamie has been with MDRS for 18 years working in different capacities and enjoys educating others on the world of disabilities. In her former role as a Rehabilitation Technologist, she went out into the field to visit clients in order to assess their needs for home modifications, vehicle modifications, activities of daily living, computer needs, seating and mobility, and environmental control units.

    • Kristy Cook

Kristy C. Cook joined Project START in March of 2019 overseeing the Loaner Program and Lending Library for Project START. She is responsible for determining which device is suitable for each client and make the public more aware of AT devices that we have available. Kristy’s goal is to match assistive technology devices to clients to enable them to live more independently in their communities. She also attends events in the community, schools, and with organizations to raise awareness to the AT Tech Act program in Mississippi.
