Engaging Students with Multiple Disabilities in Physical Activity

This session includes different teaching methods and adaptations to use when working with students who have a visual impairment and additional impairments in a physical activity setting. The teaching methods and adaptations that will be discussed are comprised of evidence-based best practice. We will discuss adaptations for physical activities in an indoor gymnasium setting and outdoor setting. This presentation has an emphasis on the different adaptations that can be made to make different physical activity environments accessible to students with visual impairments.

Participants will be able to identify:
1. At least 5 best practices for teaching students with multiple disabilities.
2. At least 5 adaptations for working with students with multiple disabilities.
3. At least 3 resources that are available to them.
